In this course, Prof. Stéphane Haddad will help you gain a thorough understanding of key financial decisions made by hospitality companies evolving in an international environment. A particular focus will be given to the roles and objectives of capital providers and their involvement in the sector.

This course will equip you with relevant asset management techniques for evaluating different real estate projects and capital structuring for hotel deals.

By the end of this course you will have sufficient knowledge to independently value a hotel, based on its "market value" but also from the perspective of an equity investor. 

Every hotel is a real estate asset. To become an industry leader in hospitality, you must master the tasks of valuing, financing and investing in real estate.

This online course is designed to develop a deeper understanding of the issues related to managing across cultures. Over the course of the five weeks, you will explore the ways in which culture (e.g. national, corporate, functional) can be analyzed using proposed frameworks, examine how culture influences organizations, and evaluate effective strategies for managing cultural differences and diversity.

You will learn how to “read” culture, looking beyond behaviors and practices, espousing beliefs and values, uncovering underlying assumptions that make up our “worldview.” During the course you will be able to apply the acquired theoretical knowledge through exercises, case studies, and simulations on real life situations.

Welcome to Managing Underperforming Properties, the first course of your Performing through Business Cycles module.

This online course is designed for you to develop a deeper understanding of managing and implementing turnarounds. During these 4 weeks we will go through the different decline stages of a company, provide you with a toolbox to manage as well as implement turnarounds, and introduce you to the leadership challenges during crisis and turnaround implementation.

You will learn how to assess the general environment and the hospitality industry and how to manage and implement turnarounds overcoming leadership challenges in times of crisis. A particular focus will be given to the roles and objectives of capital providers and their involvement in the sector.

In today’s changing economy, managers must have a detailed understanding of how to implement business strategy; that is, how to use the company resources (financial and human resources) efficiently to deliver excellent performance and meet strategic goals (like growth, market share, profitability, brand recognition).

To do this, companies need management control systems that focus management attention continually on key strategic priorities.

Therefore, this course focuses on answering one question: How can managers design and use management control systems that help an organization execute its strategy effectively? To answer this question, we propose a framework for strategic management control and we learn the multiple performance measurement and control systems (like strategic planning, corporate budgeting, performance measurement and evaluation) that are essential for effective strategy implementation.

For each of these systems, we look at role, structural elements, and challenges associated with their use. In addition, we analyze real companies applications and propose as well as apply methods and recommendations to design and use them in the real world.

In this course, Prof. Stéphane Haddad will help you gain a thorough understanding of key financial decisions made by hospitality companies evolving in an international environment. A particular focus will be given to the roles and objectives of capital providers and their involvement in the sector.

In today’s changing economy, managers must have a detailed understanding of how to implement business strategy; that is, how to use the company resources (financial and human resources) efficiently to deliver excellent performance and meet strategic goals (like growth, market share, profitability, brand recognition).

To do this, companies need management control systems that focus management attention continually on key strategic priorities.

Therefore, this course focuses on answering one question: How can managers design and use management control systems that help an organization execute its strategy effectively? To answer this question, we propose a framework for strategic management control and we learn the multiple performance measurement and control systems (like strategic planning, corporate budgeting, performance measurement and evaluation) that are essential for effective strategy implementation.

For each of these systems, we look at role, structural elements, and challenges associated with their use. In addition, we analyze real companies applications and propose as well as apply methods and recommendations to design and use them in the real world.

By the end of the course, you will know how to use control systems to design and run a winning organization.
